Federato is the AI-native core system built to drive better business outcomes across the full policy lifecycle. It replaces legacy policy administration systems with agentic AI capabilities that are built in, not bolted on.
How it started
In 2020, Will Ross and William Steenbergen met over cold email, one working in natural catastrophe modeling, the other in reinforcement learning. Both saw the same coverage gap problem: the widening share of economic losses no policy covers, concentrated among those least able to absorb them.
Underwriting is where coverage decisions are made, so they spent six months asking underwriters questions about how the work actually gets done. They heard the same answer: too much time moving data between systems, too little spent reading the portfolio.
Federato was built to give that time back. And now we help insurers drive better business outcomes across the full policy lifecycle.

Will has raised $180M from leading VC to fundamentally change the way insurance work gets done for carriers, MGAs and MGA aggregators. Prior to founding Federato, Will was a key executive at IBM's Watson Group and a graduate fellow in Stanford University’s Data Science Institute.

CTO & Co-Founder
William leads the company’s technology, engineering, and technical strategy. He focuses on building and scaling Federato’s AI-powered platform to transform how insurers operate. Before co-founding Federato, William was a researcher in Stanford’s Human Computer Interaction Group and the Institute for Computational Mathematics at Stanford, working on state-of-the-art algorithms in reinforcement learning and dynamic optimization.

With more than 28 years of experience specializing in core systems and insurance technology, Yogesh is a proven leader in driving global scale and digital transformation. His previous roles include President of the Americas at FRISS and Vice President of Sales at Duck Creek Technologies, where he helped guide the company through its 2020 IPO and 2023 acquisition. Having also held leadership positions at Oracle and Agencyport, Yogesh is dedicated to helping carriers modernize their operations safely through AI.

Prior to joining Federato, Lisa held marketing leadership positions at Boost, Attentive, and Compass. She began her career as an Associate in private equity at PSP Investments and an Analyst in Investment Banking at HSBC Securities.

Tim is a global technology executive recognized for driving innovation and growth across engineering, operations, sales, and delivery in the AI and Cloud domains. With a strong foundation in computer science and engineering, Tim has built and scaled world-class teams that deploy, operate, and commercialize advanced infrastructures powering sovereign AI, hyperscale computing, national security, and model-building initiatives worldwide. Tim helps customers at the intersection of strategy and execution, translating complex technologies into measurable business outcomes.
